Taste America 2017 + 2018

Our team was brought on as the local production and PR partner for the Austin leg of James Beard Taste America Tour in 2017, returning again as local partner in 2018. The three-day culinary tour was comprised of an official kick-off party, 300 person seated gala and chef cooking demos at Sur La Table. Our role on this event reached far beyond tradition public relations; we also handled all aspects of production, budget, committee, sponsorship, and auction.

What We Did

Production: We secured all culinary and musical talent, selected venue and negotiated rates and trade, hired and managed vendors, arranged travel, oversaw budget, ordered food for chefs, collateral design and printing, ideated and implemented national and local sponsor activations

Fundraising: Selected host committee, brought in paid and in kind sponsorships, solicited items and ran the auction during the gala

Marketing: Secured in-kind media partners, oversaw creation of ads and social media graphics, conducted tried and true media relations, worked together with the chefs and their teams to build and activate social media campaigns to drive awareness and attendance

In both 2017 and in 2018, the Austin Taste America surpassed its budgetary goals. Guests in attendance were treated to spectacular culinary experiences with some of the country’s most notable talent including: Tyson Cole, Aaron Franklin, Bryce Gilmore, Ludo Lefebvre, Laura Sawicki, Sarah Hymanson, Sara Kramer, Michael Fojtasek and many more. Our live and silent auctions raised over 80,000 in 2017 and 2018 combined with packages going for upwards of 30k.

The Sur La Table demos were a highlight for locals wanting to meet and interact with the participating chefs and also provide a great activation for local artisan vendors, as well as local and national sponsors. Cultivate handled production and marketing for those 100% sold out events as well.

The event secured millions of media impressions and social shares and experince year over year growth during our tenure as partners.
